Dont give up in despair Thom !  It may not be as bad as you think.
If you can run the Ten Tec off of a 12v battery, turn off the main breaker to 
your home
and see if it is still there.   If it goes away, then one by one turn on each 
breaker to see which
circuit has the offender, then check everything on that circuit.  That seems 
pretty strong
to me and sounds like what I have experienced in the past at my place.   One 
time it turned
out to be a DirecTV receiver, which power supply runs all the time even when it 
is off. It was 
very strong like what you have.  Another time it was a Makita battery charger 
for a portable drill.
