We are selling win8 at my "big-box" workplace. All the laptops with
win7 were shipped back and replaced with new ones having
win8. Frankly win8 looks alot like what is running on Ipad.
Interestingly, I ran into a new issue: modems that were rated for
windows (up to Seven) are not rated to run win8 - huh? I never
figured that they were OS sensitive. All our inventory is outdated
as a result. Wonder when the "buyers" at my "big-box" store figure that out?
I only run XP32 on my computers (except one old P90 IBM Thinkpad that
still has win95 but is never run online). Recently re-built one of
my desktop's and discovered IE 6.0 was under horrendous attack when
connected online. I quickly upgraded to sp3 which loaded IE 8.0
which stopped the onslaught.
I have to run with a anti-maleware and pc cleanup sw to keep the crap
level down that constantly streams in. I have five of these programs
in addition to antivirus sw. I see there is now a college to train
cyber-sleuths for NSA, CIA, FBI and Homeland security. What a world?
