I tried that first and the card from Tiger I bought didn't function right, so I returned it. Although it was just a fluke, in looking for another I found the Edgeport. I have used this on XP, Win 7 and now Win 8. It's a bit cleaner for me to plug all the serial lines into instead of at the computer which is under the desk. Ymmv
