Are you trying to hook everything up at once for the first time? If so, I would suggest first getting the KPA500 to work with the K3 without using the KAT500 and once you have done that configure in the KAT500.
I followed the configuration descriptions in hooking up my K-line but I don't remember having to change any configurations (menu stuff) to support the KPA500 or the KAT500.
