The K3 besides offering VOX Gain and anti-VOX settings also offers a "noise gate" that is very useful for cutting out shack noise while responding to your voice. I don't use VOX regularly, however, I have found it easier on the K3 to use VOX during a rare phone contest and in a special event operation than PTT.
