Don, Before I changed the VFO setting, I was having the same issue with N1MM and HRD 5.24. After setting VFO IND to Yes, I had no problems getting the K3 to change bands from the spot map in either system.
With N1MM, I had no problem running split in the DX contest last night after the change. However, with the new release of HRD this problem was cured in the CAT commands so you do not need to change this setting on the K3.
