My name's Gary and I'm a DXer. I can't recall accidentally LINKing VFOs for a good year or more, not since I started using macros to drop into and out of split mode, set up the audio and filters etc.
Couldn't the issue of DXpeditioners accidentally LINKing VFOs, or perhaps tuning the wrong VFO or nudging the knob, be solved simply by them locking their transmit VFO? FWIW I vote to fix other longstanding firmware bugs rather than fiddle with LINK, e.g.: - The CW/PTT sequencing glitch that sometimes screws up my CW if I release the PTT while still sending; - CW-in-SSB function producing no output but appearing to key the K3, sometimes (QSK+ related if I recall correctly); - The power surge that happens if I trigger the previous bug, then change to CW mode and hit the key (this one trips the KPA500 alarm and makes me say "ouch"!) CW-in-DATA-A could be useful too, in order to send a brief CW message to someone at the end of a RTTY or PSK QSO, or send "QRZ", "QRL" or "WRONG SIDEBAND" or whatever. 73 Gary ZL2iFB > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [mailto:elecraft- > [email protected]] On Behalf Of Tony Estep > Sent: Friday, 8 March 2013 3:59 a.m. > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3 - Eric &Co....
