One thing I did want to add to that post is I have mic's that have cost from $35-550 including the Yaesu MD-200 the $400 desk mic and a couple of professional recording ones. The PR-781 did the very best for me for several reasons, I used it only on radios that had a full EQ for the transmit so it could be tailored to my voice and a mic that added nothing i.e. flat as it should be.
Plus once you go to a boom mic you will never want a desk mic again, well if all you do is rag chew you might not. Hands free operation is great for DX'ing and an occasional contest looking for band countries to type/write with.
