Engineering perspective? I'm an MSEE, have been working with BNC connectors for thirty years and I don't have issue with their use on HF radio gear. If they're good enough for Agilent, Rohde and Schwarz, Anritsu, et al, they're good enough for a 10W HF transceiver.
