Hello Jean - The problem with an LED display is that it takes much more current than an LCD. When operating portable from batteries the total current is an important factor. With the LCD display in the K2 there is an option to turn off the backlight to reduce the current even more.
The early calculators used an LED display but they ran the batteries down very quickly which is why they almost all now use LCD. Do order a K2, Jean. It is an excellent rig and you will find the LCD display very clear indeed.
