Your are pretty much stuck with the factory display. Take a look at what they do in the r75 group. It is a really neat look. Probably as close to a led display as you can get. It involves taking a piece of polarizing film and positioning it over the display until the numbers become clearly in focus. The tricky part is removing the film on the original display and replacing it with the polarizing film in the exact position that the display became clear. The group has all of this outlined in the files.
