As N2BC explained to me, the programmed buttons on the K3 work directly rather than through the CAT 'stream', so the commands don't get to the P3 at all. I trieda different approach, placing the commands in a CAT macro in HRD 6. I was able only able to get it to execute when I wrapped them within an 'dummy' K3 command, that is focusing on a K3 menu item (MN053;), issuing the P3 commands and then closing the K3 menu: MN053;#FXT0;#FXT1;#FXA1;MN255;
