Might be so for a K3 or other E-gear, my K2 just seems to work better every time I turn it on, however it definitely is NOT so with all rigs. I aged a converted 40m ARC-5 in the basement for 35 years. Key clicks were the same in the NAQP CW [its final performance] as when I used it as my primary transmitter with a Lionel J-36 ... when key clicks were not encouraged but were tolerated. Admittedly, I did not age it in a French Oak barrel, but then I've aged a lot too, never in a barrel, and I just keep getting better ... well ... unless you ask my wife. :-)
