I can choose whatever font available on my PC in the TB settings.
I ditched Live for Thunderbird years ago for it could not spell check in
my native language and Microsoft refused to do something about it so...
Now my OS of choice for daily work is Debian Linux
And XP is nearly history too.
AND: I never heard of Mozilla stopping support of the Thunderbird
client... Mine still carries the link to the mozilla site and this is
what you read when clicking the link:
