Only a "short" while ago (the early 1950's) few Hams had mobile rigs. Virtually everyone on the air was working from a fixed station.
One of the games mobile operators played was to drive over to another Ham's QTH and shock him with a call from the curb in front of the house, completely swamping their receiver with a gadzillion dB over S-9 signal. Of course it only worked once, but was good for a laugh followed by a cup of coffee or an '807' or two. 73, Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- I was recently able to check in with my KX-3 for the first time in a year. All it took was driving from Florida to Montana with my Radio ;-) Makes the hobby an endurance sport!
