Ian,
It is likely as you suspect, but opening the path to the microphone jack
is easy.
Remove the jumper from the AF signal on the microphone configuration
header and re-check just to be certain.

Is this a minor oversight in the manual? A note saying "J1 pin 5 will be 29k if you
have installed the jumpers and 5.6k resistor in preparation for the KSB2 and MH2
mic" would clear it up if I'm right. But maybe I'm not, as only VK4HD and myself (as
far as I can tell) have posted this query on the Elecraft list.
Have I missed something...?
