Hi Jim, You'll be buried by responses to your question, but let me say that I am as old-school cw-centric as they come. I contest unassisted, and I used to question the value of the visual aspect of panadapters too. Until I got a P3. I can't operate without it! On s&p, it helps to separate the weaker sigs from the loud cq machines - that you've already worked - and to recognize that there is a guy that just quit transmitting on a freq, so you wait a few seconds for him to reappear to see if it's a needed one.
When I got a second K3, I HAD to have a second P3.
