Twitter is being used as a transmission medium in several applications I know of ... one is a mechanism to spot yourself to SOTAWatch and/or QRPSpots from a phone. I don't know how it works but I had to get a Twitter account to use it.

I've never twitted [or whatever] other than spotting myself once or twice, I never get twits, and so far as I know, no human being knows my "twitname," which includes me -- I've forgotten it, it's in my phone. :-)

Regarding the proposed K4, and with full knowledge that it is a made-up photo and does not propose to include social media:

1. There are no dimensions given, but looking at my K3, the proposed K4 would have to be quite a bit wider to look like it does. That would definitely NOT be a feature for me.

2. I sort of like the same size knobs for VFO A and B, I don't consider one or the other to be a "sub-VFO," I switch between them often [don't have the second RX].

3. An integrated P3 might appeal to some but not me. I look at the P3 now way more than I look at the radio and I have it positioned where it is easy and non-straining to switch from the computer to the P3. If I had to look over at the radio all the time to see the panadapter, I'd get a cramp in my neck.

It will be interesting to see what, if anything, is in the "new radio" pipeline at Elecraft since the company definitely does not have a reputation of bringing out a new product that essentially replaces [and thus makes obsolete] what you have now. I have the K3, a K2, and a KX1 ... I use them in widely different situations, and together they give me a whole range of operating possibilities. I think my K2 is about 12 years old [#4398], and so far, the only product that could even remotely be considered as a possible replacement is the KX3, and that's really "remote," they are very different radios.

I know there are hams who tweet their rare DX contacts, so it won't be
