Sad but true, Brian -- and not so much with
Elecraft who do provide support for Windows, OS X
and Linux. I purchased a really inexpensive ($280)
HP laptop for my shack, even though I mostly use
MacBooks: There's just too much Windows software
for ham radio out there to not have Windows available.

Are WINDOWS PC's banned from your household?
Certainly you know somebody who owns a WINDOW's
laptop.
If the situation were reversed and I needed an
APPLE computer for a few minutes to install new
firmware, I'd beg or borrow one.

The current firmware version for the KAT500 is
apparently MCU 1.67. To access it requires the
KAT500 Utility version 14.2.20. That, however,
seems to be available only for Windows. The
latest utility version for Mac OS X on the
website is 1.14.2.1. When I run that, the
latest firmware version it finds is 1.41.
Unfortunately 1.41 seems not to give the KAT500
the capability of tracking the frequency
setting from the K3 as it tunes - with F/W 1.41
retunes only on the first dit. Am I doing
something wrong? Is there a way to get 1.67
using a Mac (short of installing Windows on the
Mac)?
Thanks for whatever advice might be offered . . .
