This may be the result of the DSP used in the KX3, which was designed several years after the K3. Moore's Law, and so on.
My neighbor, W6GJB, feels that the KX3 decoders for RTTY and PSK work better than the K3 decoders. I don't have enough experience to offer a judgement call.
