I think I'm the first to use and mention in this forum the CM500. I have some age and noise related hearing loss (mostly right side) and tinnitus. I use a CW sidetone around 400-450 HZ.

The K3 has a built-in receive equalizer so I don't see a need for an external 
one.

Age-related hearing loss usually is in the 1000-3000 KHz range.  If it's
occupational-related, it could be any frequency.

I recall an article in QST a number of years ago by N4GG about building a
small equalizer.  As I recall it was a realtively simple project and you can
individually boost various freq bands as needed.
