Right. K6DGW has severe hearing loss. I advised him to set RXEQ for max cut of the low bands and max boost of the high bands. He says it's not perfect, but good enough.
And yes, if your hearing loss is the typical age-related loss of highs, choose a lower frequency sidetone. 500 Hz is a good starting point, shift up or down until it works best for you.
