Self-driving cars are supposed to be the wave of the future. Google already has prototypes on the road. The software must be insanely complicated. There's no way it won't have bugs.
On the other hand, human drivers are hardly perfect either. Perhaps the buggy software will be more reliable than an inattentive driver...
