Hi, Hmm, can you get your money back for that laptop? Seems to me that your RS232 port is next to useless. Even if you could find a mating connector, unbolted DB9's fall out very easily. RS232-less computers is something we have had to live with for a long, long time. It is really not hard to find an FTDI based converter. Avoid the cheap knock-offs, buy locally and return it if it doesn't work.
