Well, I run my K2 at 5 watts on PSK31, and make a contact or two everytime
I get on. Its not as easy as it use to be and I end up calling CQ alot. Only
a few times have I not made contacts.
The bands are not as good as they were, and all contacts I have to work at.
My problem is once I make contact is keeping it. Usually can make it thru 1
or 2 rounds then loose it.
I've got a HF Packer amp about 3/4 built, but honestly have not seen the
need for it. Someday when the bands get really bad I'll get off my tail and
finish it.
The antennas are nothing fancy a 22ft vertical with 14 radials, and a G5RV
up 18 ft.
Now this is a little off subject I run 5 watts mobile cw 2-3 times a week
and always make a contact.
Don't know what else to say, just stick with it.

Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K2 Digital Signals Mod
Hi Pete,
I too am using my K2 and a RigBlaster for psk31. I am only running
between and 5 and 10 watts, or so out on 20 meters and haven't been having
much luck making contacts. Previously I had used a Yaesu rig putting
about 40 eatts into the same antenna and had no trouble at all making
contacts.
I have almost completed a 35 watt amplifier (HFPacker amp, I think its
called) so I can get a bit more ooomph.
I was wondering if you or anyone else is using the K2 barefoot and if so
how you were doing with psk31?
Thanks Tom

I'm about to install my KSB2 and was looking at the modification listed
on the
website that brings out the microphone jumpers and signals necessary for
digital modes via a ribbon cable and small PC board. I've monitored this
list
for a while and have not seen much posted regarding the mod.

I use my K2 a lot on PSK31 and MFSK16 but but still use a RigBlaster Plus
and have made no mods to the K2 for the digital modes.
It would be nice to have it all in one box, but this way I can switch
rigs very
quickly. I also use an external speaker so I can monitor the received
signals
easily with the laptop soundcard connected.
