OT... but my mother, back in 1942, after divorcing her abusive Ex (One of the main architects of the Golden Gate Bridge), bicycled by herself from Philly to Key West, by herself, took a ferry to Cuba, bicycled around the island for a month before returning to the mainland to take the train back to Philly.
