Duh, if I'd just thought about it for a second, I'd have realized that rotating the paddle swapped sides. And, of course, I never tried it in the right-handed position. I suppose some lefties send that way (dots with thumb), but I don't.

I know about the menu item, of course, but I got tired of changing it every time I reset, or something. If I ever sell it, I'll gladly rewire the paddle back.

Hello Scott:

It depends upon which way you have the paddles "pointed", to the left or to
the right. That reverses the dot and dash paddles.

To get the dot and dash functions on the desired paddles once you have them
positioned as you like, just enter the MENU and select INP, then choose
between PDn or PDr (normal or reversed).

No wiring changes needed.

Subject: [Elecraft] Paddle Wiring

When I built my KX1, I discovered that the paddle (KXPD1) was wired so the
default setting was that the paddle was pressed to the LEFT for dits, just
the opposite of the way bugs have always been made, and the way most people
wire their paddles, as far as I can tell. I'm left-handed, but I learned to
sent with a bug (some 50 years ago), so I just re-wired the KXPD1 so I don't
have to keep changing from the default setting. Now, rumor has it that both
Eric and Wayne are lefties. Could this be the explanation for the KXPD1
wiring?
