If you are using Line Out with a fixed gain setting to feed audio to WSJT-X, adjusting the AF control will not do anything. What I do is leave my RF gain control at its normal position (around 3 o'clock) and use the slider at the lower left in the WSJT-X window to compensate for gain variations.
