I made the 1K to 10K resistor change on my K2's SSB board because I use a Heil element and seemed to have to talk louder than I preferred in order to get the VOX to work well. After the change, I really haven't noticed much of a change in the Gain and Compression settings, but the VOX sensitivity is greatly improved and is very smooth now. I can speak much more naturally without having to worry about the rig dropping out of transmit. This will make my contesting hours much less stressful on my voice.
