Because I didn't notice anyone mentioning it, I will point to the manual's description of the menu entry CONFIG: CW WGHT where it says "Tap 4 to select VOX NOR (default) or AUTO OFF. The AUTO OFF setting turns CW vox off on power-up, avoiding accidental keying by attached PCs, etc."
The AUTO OFF setting has prevented many problems for me.
