I had a similar bad weather situation with my VHF operating in VHF contests. The 144 MHz position was next to the door that went outside, and the shack was alone on a rocky hilltop. It was 26 miles from the ocean, so very little salt air, but the door was usually open and fog and humidity was a recurring event. I always noticed that the 144 laptop would crap out quite often. Any other computer up there would work OK, but that unit near the open door would always fail. (usually a bad keyboard or bad hard drive.) I also had rusty screws on the K3 which was also close to that open door.

My SS30DV has worked flawlessly for about 6 years on a variety of rigs and other

Contrary to the lack of such info, the actual voltage IS ADJUSTABLE with a small
potentiometer inside the unit.
However, there is a flaw in the unit. I use it at a condo on a beach of the
Atlantic Ocean in Cocoa Beach, Florida in the winters. The area around the rear
entrance for the air intake for the fan is totally rusted and the paint around
the vent is completely gone. There is, obviously, salt in the air, even though I
used it only inside, on the floor near the sliding glass door to the balcony.
While it is still working OK, I suspect that there is also corrosion inside the
unit, but hope that it doesn't cause a failure. A better antirust coating and/or
better paint job should be used. My K3 shows no corrosion nor rusting of any
parts, including inside. I did opt for the Stainless Steel Case screws in
construction.
