Tom,
Where did you get this idea? I ship close to two dozen international postal packages every year and they are all insurable, though the max value does vary by destination country. For most of EU its up to $200 and included in the shipping fee (Not an optional charge). Some countries will give you the option to buy more insurance for an extra charge just like its done for shipping within the 50 states. Of course if you are shipping to N. Korea or Iran or other such country with little or no trade agreements with the USA, then there may not be any insurance available. You can always make that decision on a case-by-case purchase offer. Carte Blanc refusal to sell outside the 48-states (what CONUS usually implies) really limits your market.

BTW if you are shipping parcel post instead of priority mail you should compare costs. There is little saving by choosing parcel post.

If you are shipping big expensive items then UPS, etc. may be better.

BTW all my Elecraft purchases were sent via priority mail. I have to go to the PO to get them. UPS/FedEx just drops the box at my front door without alerting me so much higher risk of being stolen.

***I occasionally sell on eBay and I have one simple reason for Conus only.
Packages sent out of the US cannot be insured, at least through USPS, so if
they are lost or damaged you have no recourse.*** Tom, k2bew
