Fred N3CSY asked: QUESTION: K2 BANDS?
How does one know what "BAND" the K2 is set for? I know I can do BAND+ and BAND-, and I can do BAND+/BAND- frequencies entries. BUT HOW DO I (me) know - what BAND the K2 thinks it is in? There must be a base BAND spot - where all the ups, downs, and changes go from. When I did the VCO RF BOARD alignments - at one point, I had the K2's bands all messed up. I think I was able to get it back - but I'm still not sure I understand the philosophy the K2 uses - for being in 1 band or another. Once I do get the K2 in a known BAND, how do I change frequencies IN THAT BAND? ---------------------------------------------- The band is indicated as a frequency on the dial. 35xx.xx is in the 80 meter band, 7xxx.xx is in the 40 meter band and so on. If you think you might have cranked the tuning knob so many time you have actually "tuned" to the wrong band, just do a direct frequency entry and it'll automatically switch to the appropriate band for the frequency you entered. The only "tricky" part about direct frequency entry is that if you install the 160 meter module you have to enter a zero first for frequencies in the 160 meter band so the K2 won't think you want 18 MHz instead of 1800 KHz Tuning within a band is done by turning the big knob or using the direct frequency entry, or am I not understanding the last question?
