The K2 returns to the last used frequency when you power it up, other than that the bands just cycle round. Assuming you haven't set any transverter bands pressing down from 1.8 MHz takes you to the 28 MHz band, etc. Moving around the band is just a matter of rotating the tuning knob or pressing the "rate" switch then the knob. The K2 remembers the last used frequency, mode and KAT2 settings for each band.

If there was a rotary band switch, it would create problems with transverter bands which are hidden unless you set them in the menu.

I have a TS570, FT857, K1 and K2. I don't find navigating my way around the K2 at all difficult.
