Bob,

Read the BAT ERR description on page 4 of the KXBC3 manual.

You may have to remove the batteries and check the terminal voltage of each one with your DMM to determine if you have a bad one, or if all are possibly fully charged.

Reloading software will not make any difference, but likely will not hurt anything either.
