Thanks to all who've replied both on and especially off list. The general consensus is that BIRD makes the best dummy loads. Avoiding units that incorporate BeO is a consideration. Others mentioned, in no particular order: Heath / MFJ Cantenna Oak Hills Research RFL 100 db Products Designs that use Caddock film resistors. MFJs.
