Brought my KX3 on a day hike in Donner Pass (California) today, and fired it up on a small peak (George R. Stewart Peak) with the AX1 whip and its counterpoise.
Within 10 minutes, got QSOs over ssb with the state of New York, Florida and... Bonaire. Pretty cool on a short whip, 10 watts and a bit of luck!
