As I've posted here before, the 99 bucks you spend for EZNEC can be the best ham money you ever spent. Its educational value is really outstanding. No matter what piece of wire you propose to put up, you can model its radiation pattern and find out so much more than you can from the rich folklore surrounding antennas.
