Just for information, the FD "antenna" I used had what most would consider absolutely horrible SWR. 10M had the best about 1.5 to 1, 15 was running about 4.5 to 1, 20 was 2.8 to 1 and 40 was running 3.9 to 1.
Yes, I could have trimmed it and made it better. The setup was hastily thrown together, not planned and tested, and it worked. 64 QSOs in around 2 hours working across the US and Canada with 5 watts says something about what works... Would I leave it like that in a permanent setup? No, definitely not, I sure my finals would not be happy in the long run... Would a better match have made a few more QSOs? Maybe...
