I'm not sure I see the connection between part 1 and part 2. I paid for a Kenwood TS-590S. Actually I have two of them. I don't think this radio ever sold for more than about $1,600 and to the best of my recollection it's not high on anyone's dirty transmitters list (assuming a Chinese TCXO was not fitted). I have never felt I could have worked more DX with a "better" rig. Better antennas - sure, better rig - no. My flying sucks up all my money. None left for K4.
