Personally (and this varies with every setup) I usually run with the sound card output level about 1/3 of the way, the level in WSJT-X about 1/3 of the way up then adjust the mic (line-in) to get the 4 bars plus a flicker level on the ALC meter. You do not want any of the levels to be too near either end of the scale for best linearity. So my mic level usually ends up at 20 to 30.
