Indeed the Noise Blanker NB does have artifacts pertaining to received
audio. And I find a more destructive audio path item is Noise
Reduction. The setting of that feature will greatly affect the receive
audio. See page 6, 11, & 27 in the manual for details on this feature.

Do you have the Noise Blanker turned on?? That will create some
"strange" sounds in the audio.
