Supporting out of production products can require a lot of money and
effort. I'm not going to advise Elecraft how to run their business but I
think Flex, one of their worthy competitors, transitions repairs to
qualified 3rd party companies when they stop production of older models.
This provides a continuous support system for loyal owners and keeps the
developers working on current and new products. Seems good for both the
company and customers.

I sure hope there never comes a time when I cannot repair my beloved KX2
through Elecraft or another capable outfit.
