Those "do you order from Amazon?" emails are part of a scam to get you to purchase gift cards. They hack an email address, and send emails as the person whose account they hacked. They get you to buy a gift card "for a family member with X disease" or something like that, and send them the code. You think you're doing a nice thing for your friend, but it's someone else entirely.
If you have a method other than email for sending that person a message, let them know their email has been hacked and they need to take action to get it back.
