Hi Folks
Conditions were generally terrible but thought I'd forward this note sent to Andy, HB9CVQ whose determination in the face of my very weak signal was fantastic. Skill can definitely overcome lack of sunspots!

Our Tanzania safari was exceptional and the Elecraft KX1 was the perfect portable radio. The link to an abbreviated photo album is:

Andy
I wanted to drop a note thanking you for our QSOon 9/17 at 1925z. The XYL and I were on vacation in Tanzania; the western Serengeti at the time of the QSO. My portable rig was an Elecraft KX1 running about 2 watts on 30m to a wire. Conditions were not that great over our vacation period except for that single evening. Your signal was peaking S8/9. I was especially impressed by your determination to copy my weak signal and obtain the necessary QSO information.

Well done! I'll make up a special QSL for you and several other sharp-eared OP's and send it via direct.
