I'm wondering about the feasibility of a project. The goal would be to have a dual receive setup using two K2's.

One K2 (K2/100) would be used as a transceiver. The other would be a receiver only.

Since I would be building the receiving K2 from scratch (this may be an elaborate rationalization to build another K2), I would want tow special features:

- an internal jumper to disable the transmitting circuit. Perhaps cutting signal or power to the driver or finals.

 - a way to bring the MUTE line out to a rear jack.

The existing K2/100 would also need changes:

- a way to bring the mute MUTE to a rear jack. The K2/100 MUTE line would also mute the K2.

 - a way to bring the receive signal from the K2/100 to the K2.

I can figure out how to mix the audio outputs from the two radios.

I'm figuring that a K2/100 and a K2 would cost less than the current crop of $3,000 radios and yet have better basic receive performance. Dual in-band receive would be great in pileups and such.

I'm not looking for a SO2R setup, just smooth dual receive.

Any suggestions or guidance greatly appreciated.
