I would look for a foam pad/mattress used for backpacking or camping. If it is convenient, I would probably start out at a speciaty type outdooor store as opposed to a Walmart. They should have some good closed cell foam that, if it is to thin, could be glued together in layers and then cut out to fit your radio.
