I think I can imagine how you feel.

My first license arrived on October 14, 1967. October 14 was the day Chuck 
Yeager broke the sound barrier in the X-1.

That Novice license was dated October 12 - Columbus Day. Talk about opening 
new worlds!

Next October it will be 40 years for me. Despite all that has happened, it 
doesn't seem that long.
