What would happen if you connected the K1 up to say 16 vdc?
As far as I can tell it would work just fine.
I went through the schematics and found all of the components (I hope)
that use the unregulated input voltage and researched them on the net.
The results are:
Part Description Max Input Voltage
ZR78L06 6v regulator 20vdc
LM2930 8v regulator 26vdc
LM380 Audio Amp 22vdc
LT1252 Audio Amp 28vdc
I looks like the 6v regulator is the limiting component at 20vdc max input.
