If extensive portable operation is expected from your station, then consider building the station INTO the Peli case. Simply open the lid, attach antenna etc and operate straight away at maximum set up speed. The only real consideration then is heat dissipation for QRO. Perhaps a flip-up lever to raise the front panel for access. If you use a laptop, you don't even have to get at the controls using Ham Radio Deluxe.
The case is easy to machine for waterproof connectors: tough miniature nylon Buccaneer connectors are good, they even have a BNC mating pair and waterproofing caps when not mated.
